White Coat Wisdom Receives Major Endorsements

Former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, MD has endorsed White Coat Wisdom, my 600 plus page hardcover oral history of extraordinary physicians I’ve known through the years.

“White Coat Wisdom is a good read for anyone, but of course, of special interest to the growing number involved in health and medicine," says Dr. Koop. Koop’s endorsement is so important I redesigned the jacket cover to highlight it prominently.

Nancy Dickey, MD, also reviewed and endorsed the book. “White Coat Wisdom is an easy read that offers insights into the many influences on care from those within the profession. The book, which will be available in December, features several dozen physicians who share their fascinating experiences. For example, Darold Treffert, MD is a Fond du Lac psychiatrist you probably never heard of. But he was the medical consultant for “Rain Man” with Dustin Hoffman, the movie about savant syndrome. In White Coat Wisdom, he tells about a real savant who has read 6,000 books, having committed each to memory. Doctor Treffert says the patient claims to read one page with eye while simultaneously reading the next page with the other eye!
